TRON: Ares Reigns Supreme
In the week ending January 10th, Walt Disney Home Entertainment's TRON: Ares dominated the charts, claiming the top spot for the second consecutive week. This long-awaited sequel to the iconic TRON franchise, which had its own lengthy development journey, finally hit theaters in October 2025. Despite mixed reviews and a challenging box office performance, grossing around $142 million worldwide, TRON: Ares has found its audience on Blu-ray. This week, it maintained an impressive HD share of 72%, with a significant portion of sales coming from the 4K UHD format, solidifying its position as the top 4K UHD title for two weeks in a row.
But here's where it gets interesting...
The Rise of 1408 and Dogma
In second place on the Blu-ray-only chart, we find Lionsgate Home Entertainment's 1408. This film, originally released in 2008, has been given a new lease of life with a stunning 4K UHD edition. The release includes both the director's cut and the original theatrical version, each on separate 4K UHD discs with Dolby Vision HDR. 1408 sold an impressive 30% of the Blu-ray units compared to TRON: Ares, with an HD share of nearly 100%.
And this is the part most people miss...
Lionsgate also resurrected Kevin Smith's 1999 film, Dogma, which had previously gone out of print. They remastered it in 4K, adding a Dolby Atmos audio track and a wealth of new and old extras. Dogma held onto its third place on the Blu-ray-only chart, selling 26% of TRON: Ares' units, with a perfect HD share of 100%.
