Get ready for some exciting news, Marvel fans! Hugh Jackman's recent comments have sent shockwaves through the MCU community, and it's a thrilling development for Wolverine enthusiasts.
You might remember that Jackman's iconic portrayal of Wolverine in 2017's Logan was meant to be his final hurrah. In an interview with Cynthia Erivo for Variety and CNN's Actors on Actors, he confirmed that Logan was intended to be his farewell to the superhero world. Jackman said, "It really felt like the end after Logan. I needed to claim it as the end because I had a vision for that movie and I fought for it. I had to declare, 'This is the last time.'"
But here's where it gets controversial... Jackman's plans took an unexpected turn after witnessing Ryan Reynolds' performance as the hilarious Merc with a Mouth, Deadpool. He explained, "When I saw Deadpool, I realized I was seeing a modern-day version of 48 Hrs., with Eddie Murphy and Nick Nolte. But I kept telling myself I was done. I'm not one of those guys who can't let go. But then I thought, 'You know what? I change my mind. It's not a big deal. I'm not apologizing.' And it was awesome."
When Erivo asked if his time as Wolverine was truly over, Jackman replied, "It doesn't feel like the end."
Now, here's the part most people miss: Jackman is not officially scheduled for any future MCU movies. However, Wolverine survives at the end of Deadpool & Wolverine, leaving the door wide open for another Logan adventure. Looking ahead to Marvel's upcoming slate, Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars are rumored to feature a host of MCU characters, past and present, and there's buzz that Jackman's Wolverine could make an appearance, if not in both, then at least in one of these highly anticipated films.
Avengers: Doomsday hits theaters on December 18, 2026, with Avengers: Secret Wars following a year later on December 17, 2027. So, will we see Jackman's Wolverine join the Avengers? Only time will tell. What are your thoughts on this potential comeback? Feel free to share your opinions in the comments below!
