West Bloomfield, MIOakland County Libertarians launched a blog on their web site this week. The blog is intended to highlight problems and issues facing Oakland County residents and offer Libertarian solutions. Periodically, other news items of interest will be posted to the blog.
Every day one of the Libertarian Party of Oakland County (LPOC) bloggers will post an item to the blog referencing an article in one of the local newspapers. Blog readers will then be invited to comment on the issue and suggest possible libertarian solutions or solutions that can be achieved through less government rather than more government regulation and taxes. Everybody in Oakland County is welcome to participate. We will even extend a special invitation to L. Brooks Patterson and hope he finds where Libertarians have some common ground with his own party.
More often than not we see the county government or the local (city, township, or village) governments proposing new laws or new taxes to address issues, said LPOC Chair Nathan Allen. Our goal with this blog is to expose the public to less government alternatives. Perhaps we will even see some elected officials referencing the solutions proposed on this blog.
LPOC members who wish to blog in addition to commenting on posts, can use the convenient Register link on the lower right portion of the web site. Authorization will be determined on a case by case basis.
Although only 5 days old, the blog is already increasing traffic to the web site, and people are staying longer when they come to the site.
Internet users can find the LPOC blog at: http://www.LpocMi.org/blog/.
